Walks and social Programme

Notes: Weekend walks normally range from 5 to 12 miles. It is recommended that walkers bring sufficient food and drink for themselves bearing in mind that the longest walks can take up to about 5 hours. Whilst pub or tea shop stops may be indicated these may not always be possible.Please bring suitable footwear, trainers may be unsuitable in wet conditions.If you want any information on any of the walks below please contact the leader.Map numbers refer to Ordnance Survey 1:25000 Explorer series.If you require a lift to the start of the walk contact the leader, they may be able to help.Walks are normally still held if it is raining but maybe cancelled due to extreme weather conditions,If in any doubt please contact the walk leader.

Sun 15 Aug Burrough on the Hill, Leics
Meet at the Burrough Hill Country Park between Oakham and Melton Mowbray (possible charge), map/grid ref: 246/SK766115, at 10:30. Walk to Thorpe Satchville on the Leicestershire Round, climbing the highest point in Leicestershire. Pub stop en route. 16km (10 miles) Gordon & Wendy 07760 880555

Sun 29 Aug Denver Sluice, Downham Market
Meet at Denver Sluice public car park (free parking), map/grid ref: 228/TF588011, at 10:30. Walk along fenland river bank then 'up' off the fen through gently rolling countryside via Ryston Hall Park and Denver village. Potential pub stops at Hilgay and Denver. Continue on to Denver Windmill (tea shop) before finishing back at Denver Sluice for a final pub stop overlooking the river. 16km (10 miles) Ian 01366 381266 (Joint walk with Peterborough Group)

Sat 11th Sep – Linoln Heritage Day Trip.
Day trip to Lincoln to take advantage of Lincolnshire Heritage Weekend. Many attractions open for free this weekend only. Visit the Castle, Cathedral, Bishops place etc with lunch at cheap pub. Please car share, 1 ½ hours drive. Contact Karen to arrange meet up on 01733 557381 or 07913078713

Sun 12 Sep Ramblers 75th Anniversary Baton Walk - Harringworth
Meet outside the White Swan public house in Harringworth, map/grid ref: 234/SP916974, at 10:30 (park sensibly around the village). Sun 10 Oct. Barholm, Lincs
Meet outside The Five Bells public house in Barholm, west of Market Deeping map/grid ref: 234/TF089109, at 10:30 (park sensibly around the village). Walk to Uffington via the grounds of Caswick Hall, then on to Belmesthorpe Grange. Following part of the Macmillan Way through more estate land to Greatford before returning to Barholm. Sun 30 Jan King’s Cliffe & Westhay
Meet by the church with a spire in King’s Cliffe, map/grid ref: 234/TL007972 at 10:30. Walk via Blatherwycke, site of Fineshade Abbey, Top Lodge for a tea shop stop and then onto Westhay Woods.
